Rolling Cooking Dough |
| Instead of adding flour to the dough by
flouring the rolling pin, chill the rolling pin
in the freezer and the dough will not stick. |

| Sear |
| Cooking tips: Searing is to cook food over
high heat to brown quickly and seal in juices.
Heat is then reduced for the remainder of
cooking time. Good cookware is essential to
successful searing. |

| Fresh Fish |
| The best way to keep fish really fresh is to
place the fish in a double plastic bag filled
with water and place near the freezer wall. Fish
should never be refrozen. |

| Removing corn from the Cob |
| To quickly remove corn kernels from the cob,
use a clean shoe horn...it is a perfect fit! |

| Over Ripe Fruit |
| If you fruit gets too ripe, make it into a
fruit sauce. Clean the berries well. Mash them
with sugar to taste, and serve with ice cream or
shortcakes. |

| Drain is defined as to pour off the liquid.
It's easiest pouring the contents into a
strainer but there are other cooking utensils
that work well for this. |

| Marinate |
| Marinate is defined as letting food soak in
a prepared liquid to add flavor and tenderize.
ie: soy sauce, olive oil, etc... |

| Measuring Shortening |
| Cooking tips: To measure shortening, pack
firmly into dry measuring cup. Level with
spatula or back of knife and then remove with
rubber scraper. (You can also line cup with
plastic wrap overlapping cup and it will remove
easy with no mess.) |

| Beware of Bacteria |
| Bacteria grows most rapidly between 40
degrees F and 140 degrees F. For smart food
storage keep foods above or below this range as
much as possible. |

| Fresh/Canned Carrots |
| It takes about 2 1/2 to 3 pounds of carrots
to make one canned quart. |

| Toasted Almonds |
| Need cooking tips for almonds? To toast
whole almonds in an oven, spread in a shallow
pan and toast at 350 degrees in the oven for
about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Use top

325-375 degrees. |
